"To promote goodwill relations between Appleton and Kanonji, Japan; and provide young people and families of the Fox Cities an educational/cultural exchange opportunity to broaden global understanding of a culture different than their own. "
The Kanonji Appleton Partnership (KAP) is a volunteer-led, non-profit sister city organization. It was founded in 1988 to introduce Appleton residents to the culture and language of Kanonji, Japan. Since the partnership began 3 decades ago, hundreds of citizens & the mayors of both Kanonji & Appleton have traveled to each other's cities.
See what people say about us
Throughout my experience with KAP, I grew strong relationships and gained two new families. Every encounter with new faces in Japan was welcoming and loving. Beyond my travels, the KAP program made me feel extremely prepared before I took off on my journey. I strongly recommend this wonderful experience.
My time with KAP has been fulfilling each time I've traveled. I've experienced something new and wonderful and have grown and learned so much during my time in Japan. I have endless good things to say about the program; their attention and kindness to its travelers is to be marveled. I have many memorable stories to share from my three trips. I encourage anyone to take the chance to experience Japan through KAP.
